About Us
Home Educators Network (HEN), is now a legal a non-profit organization (501 c 3) established to provide support for a structured or unstructured home schooling program for those parents who dare to home school.  We are not a school.  We are a consultant and resource center for home schoolers.

This organization is under the direction of a board of directors, consisting of teachers, compensation analyst, and administrative assistant and an advisory group consisting of retired teachers, curriculum specialist, computer programmers, accountants, and computer technicians.

Our purpose is to:

Provide guidance in creating their curriculum within the specifications of the core curriculum.
        *  Provide suggested materials and texts to conduct a progressive home school program.
        *  Provide parents with state compliance regulations.*
        *  Assist parent in creating and maintaining a transcript.

  Through supervision Help Parents:

• Improve student's learning skills and abilities
        • Enhance student's motivation to learn
        • Introduce new teaching techniques

Our program, unlike many home schooling programs is not free style but based on and imitates public school curriculum.  We follow the guidelines of government and what they tell us a child should know when he completes any given grade level.  Yet it allows the parent the flexibility to customize their program to fit the need of their child.  The program is good for the following:

  1.  Children at risk
  2.  Home Schoolers
  3.  Home bound
  4.  Young expectant mothers
  5.  Parents
  6.  Maturity Leveling
  7.  Teachers
  8.  Students
  9.  Day Care Centers
10. Adult Education

A Little History/Background

Since this program was started in 1994, many changes have taken place in both technology and education.  And the environments are still changing.  We have seen many new beginnings for other home school programs and we have seen many fade away.  In 1994 there was very little information available on how to create a home school program, let alone how to use technology in the curriculum.  This would be the up and coming environment in both public schools, and home school.  Many were wondering if it would really work? If it worked, how would it be done?  After much research on the feasibility of technology becoming a tool in the curriculum, this program was created.

This program  first came on the scene in the bulletin board environment, with one gifted student, one ADA student and two infants.  We published several articles relative to this subject.  The concept seemed to work then, today, we can say the concept does work.

We knew absolutely nothing about the bulletin board, html, the Internet, etc.  but we learned how to use these tools to make this a  reality.   Putting this together with our teaching experience, computer experience, secretarial and social work skills, The Home Educators Network began to take form and here we are today:  Technology in the curriculum.  THIS IS IT!

With the establishment of this help program, we can say teaching methods are improved, students can learn at their own pace, students are more motivated to learn, their learning experience is expanded, student's learning skills have improved; and, technology in the curriculum,  has brought to the student's desk top a wider world of culture, information and expertise, and . . . . . It's all just a click away.
