Caution:  These projects should be performed under the direct supervision of the parent.

 

Ice Cube Race

Student will learn how different colors absorb and reflect light. They will also learn how to take measurements and formulate conclusions from them.

Is there Anyone Out There?

Children will learn the location of the Earth and the sun in our solar system through several short fun games. These games also help to develop creativity.

 

Make Stuff

When your friends say, "You know you can buy one of those..." do you say, "Yeah, so?" If you love to make things, if you constantly have a project going in a back room, or cluttering up a kitchen counter, if you start making Christmas presents in June and you watch all those do-it-yourself shows on TV, come on in! We've got all kinds of recipes, formulas, craft projects and ideas that you can make yourself.

 
Making It Rain
Student will learn about the three states of water and how rain is created.  The Water Cycle.
 
Mr. Sun

Student will learn how we can tell time by the sun because it moves across the sky.

Oil Spill

Student will learn about how oil spills in the ocean can be cleaned up.  For older students, explain ahead of time what an oil spill is.

 
Pinwheel

Science project for Pre-K, making, pinwheel, windsock, and spring collage.

Plant Life

Children will learn plants need the sun to grow. Plants and the sun are good friends. In fact, plants will go out of their way to face the sun. They will actually  bend themselves just to touch the warm sunbeams that help 
them grow.
 

Secret Messages
Sending secret messages was important during World War II.  One way of sending a message and keeping it secret is to use invisible ink.  Follow the instructions in this project and see how this done.
Spin the Apple
Children will learn how the Earth spins on its axis, making day and night.
 

Solar Toaster

Children will learn about solar power. Afterwards, explain how solar power can be used to heat houses and to make electricity. Ask children to invent creative uses for solar power.
 

Trash

Student will learn how animals can be hurt by garbage. Secondly, they will also learn what they can do to make garbage safe.

Visor

It's important to keep the sun out of your eyes on sunny days. In this experiment, children will make a sun visor. Explain how the shadow from the visor will keep their eyes out of sun.

Windmill

Children will learn the wind is a source of energy. Explain how windmills are used to pump water from the ground and to generate electricity.
