
JOURNAL WRITING
Journal writing is the most flexible instructional tool there is. It works well in any part of the curriculum. This is the new addition to our resources. We find that journal writing is another medium of expression. By making this a part of your daily classroom activity, it helps student to sought out experiences, make observations, express their emotions, and anxieties, express their opinions; reflect on personal values, goals and ideas, to name a few. The use of Journal writing can also help build basic skills. All sought of activities can be created using journal writing. As mentioned on the Teachers Corner, such activities as,
Daily warm up activity
Practice in prompt writing for state assessments.
Daily, weekly writing prompt
"Anytime" activity and,
Student work center.
One of the requirements of home schooling in Texas is that Good Citizenship be taught. Journal writing can be used to build, encourage and create activities that promote good citizenship.
