How about a Few Good Scavenger Hunts?  

There are several internet scavenger hunts on this website. They include Social Studies and People, Art, Science, and computer. 

.A good starting point to have the students look for information in some of the Online Newspapers listed in these web pages. Later you can begin to have them look for sites that are related to the curriculum that you are teaching.

 
Activities for Kids"

These activities can be shared with other home school students, or can be used on an individual basis.  These activities also indicate the applicable subject.  Example:  "Good Advise":  (Shakespeare, Family values and Literature)

Book Reviews:  

Are you having trouble finding a good book? Have you found a good book that you want to tell others about? Students from Valentine and Carver School are building a book review data base. You can read the short reviews and quickly find a book that might interest you. You can also help by sending us your ratings of any books that you have read that are at the third, fourth, fifth, or sixth grade level. Whatever you do, don't tell us the ending of any book.

Newspaper Activities

This Newspaper Activity is designed familiarize students with the World Wide Web and some of the news resources that are available. It will also keep them updated on current events in the news and the weather around the world
