The projects on this page are very simple and affective curriculum add-ons.  Most of the materials for these projects you will find in your own household. 

Advertising Project:

To develop written, verbal, and visual communication skills using the computer Subject Area: Language Arts project

Almanac:

Students will examine almanac design and construct one of their own. These all-purpose calendar books told them about the tides, the weather, changes of the moon, anniversaries of historical events, and gave lists of places to stay and descriptions of the roads. They gave forecasts of eclipses, days for fairs, recipes, jokes, health hints, and advice in the form of proverbs and sayings. Subject areas:  Language Arts, History, Science, Math and Art.

Ancestors 

A Computer-based Research Paper on One's Ancestors The Objective is to help student appreciate the importance of one's family history Subject Area:  Language Arts, Developing Computer skills.

Class Rules

Students sometimes do not understand why we have a rule and therefore being an adolescent, does not respect the rules. If students take part in making their own rules they may find it easier to follow them. As a part of your home school program, allow the student to assist in making the rules for each class. Subject Areas:  Math, Science, History, Language Arts, Computer Lab.

Create A Story

The objective is to: To apply concepts learned in class discussion and activities  and to increase creativity from "piggybacking" on ideas from others Subject Area:  Language Arts.

Fairytales:  Computer writing Lessons

The objectives of this project is: To write creatively and improve written language: to compose, type, edit, and print stories using word processing and, to produce a finished booklet of stories Subject Area:  Language Arts.

Hand-to-eye:

The objective is to increases hand eye coordination:  Subject Area:  Art

Is Anyone Out there?

Children will learn the location of the Earth and the sun in our solar system through several short fun games. These games also help to develop creativity. Subject Area:  Science

Ice Cube Race

The Objective of this project is to help the student learn how different colors absorb and reflect light. They will also learn how to take measurements and formulate conclusions from them.  Subject Area:  Science

Making Rain

The objective is for the student tol learn about the three states of water and how rain is created.  The Water Cycle.  This is a good project for the unit on the water cycle.  Subject Area:  Science.

What Time Is It Mr. Sun?

The objective of this project if for the student tol learn how we can tell time by the sun because it moves across the sky. The sun will tell you the time of day any time of the day.  Complete this project and see how.  Subject Areas:  Mathematics, Science.

Creating A Class Newspaper

Objective is to develop students' writing skills through production of a class newspaper.  This newspaper can be developed for any subject area:  Subject Area:  Art, Science, Math, History, Language Arts.

Oil Spill

Objective:  Student will learn about how oil spills in the ocean can be cleaned up.  For older students, explain ahead of time what an oil spill is. Subject Area:  Science

Rain Painting:

Objective: Students will learn about the force of rain.  Subject Area: Science, Art

Several Science Projects:

Pinwheel, Windsock, etc.  Subject area:  Science

Plants Need Sunlight
Objective:  Children will learn plants need the sun to grow; that plants and the sun are good friends;  fact the fact that plants will go out of their way to face the sun: and, they will actually bend themselves just to touch the warm sunbeams that help them grow. Subject Area:  Science.
How to Send A Secret Message

Objective:  Student will lean how to send a secret message.  To add spice to this project, student might do some research on how secret messages were sent during World War II.  Subject areas:  Science, History.

Solar Toaster

Objective: Children will learn about solar power. Afterwards, explain how solar power can be used to heat houses and to make electricity. Ask children to invent creative uses for solar power. Subject Area:  Science.

Spinning Earth

Objective:  Children will learn how the Earth spins on its axis, making day and night.  Subject areas:  Astronomy, Science.

Treacherous Trash

Objective:  Student will learn how animals can be hurt by garbage. Secondly, they will also learn what they can do to make garbage safe.

Vibrant Visor

It's important to keep the sun out of your eyes on sunny days. In this experiment, children will make a sun visor. Explain how the shadow from the visor will keep their eyes out of sun.  Subject areas:  Health, Science.

Mini-Windmill

Objective:  Children will learn the wind is a source of energy. Explain how windmills are used to pump water from the ground and to generate electricity.  Subject Area:  Science.
