VIBRANT VISOR
(Bedroom- Visor Hanging on Drawer)
TIME REQUIRED: 30 minutes
MATERIALS REQUIRED: Cardboard, a dinner plate, scissors, a strip of elastic,
a stapler, and paint, glitter, crayons, or markers.
LEARNING OBJECTIVE: It's important to keep the sun out of your eyes on
sunny days. In this experiment, children will make a sun visor. Explain how
the shadow from the visor will keep their eyes out of sun.
INTRODUCTION: Light from the sun can be very bright! In this activity you can make a sun visor to wear on those
wonderful sunny days!
STEP 1: First, you'll need to gather a few things together. You'll need cardboard, a dinner plate, scissors, a strip of elastic, a stapler, and
something to decorate your visor...perhaps some paint, glitter, crayons
or markers.
STEP 2: Cut a ten inch circle out of the cardboard,
STEP 3: Place the dinner plate partially over the circle, leaving a crescent shape showing. Draw along the curved edge, then cut it out so that you have a cardboard crescent shape.
STEP 4: Staple one end of the elastic strip to one end of the crescent. Hold the crescent up to your head where you will wear it and adjust it to fit before stapling the other end.
STEP 5: Now for the best part! Decorate your visor using whatever you
like! Make it pretty...!
